ABYSSAL VACUUM

Biography

Abyssal Vacuum is a French atmospheric/dissonant black metal project from Lyon, renowned for its cavernous, oppressive soundscapes that evoke the lightless depths of subterranean voids and occult energies lurking beneath the Earth's surface. Emerging from the fertile French extreme metal underground, the entity crafts mesmerizing yet intensely abrasive black metal—blending hypnotic dissonance, alien melodies, and ritualistic atmospheres—that feels like a descent into eldritch horrors dwelling in ancient caves. With a thematic fixation on cryptic caverns (often pinpointed by geographic coordinates in track titles), Abyssal Vacuum stands as one of the most distinctive voices in modern dissonant black metal, earning cult acclaim for its immersive, unsettling vision.

Abyssal Vacuum materialized in late 2017 as the solo endeavor of Sébastien Besson (guitars, bass, vocals, composition), a prolific figure in the French scene also known for his work in Dysylumn (atmospheric black/death), Ominous Shrine, and Bacchus.
