Biography

Acid Bath is an American sludge metal / doom metal band from Houma, Louisiana that formed in 1991.

They released their breakout debut When the Kite String Pops in 1994, which was then followed by their sophomore and final album, Paegan Terrorism Tactics, in 1996. The band tragically broke up in 1997, after the passing of bassist, Audie Pitre, in a traffic collision.

After Acid Bath, frontman Dax Riggs, among with other remaining band members, Sammy Duet & Mike Sanchez, formed the group Agents of Oblivion, which released one album. After the departure of that band, Dax went on to start his own personal project, named Deadboy & the Elephantmen, which lasted from 2000 until 2007, in which he then continued as a solo artist (see: Dax Riggs). Guitarist Sammy Duet played with fellow sludge band, Crowbar, for some time. Since 2000, Sammy Duet has been playing guitar with the band Goatwhore.

On October 16th 2024, it was announced the band would return playing Sick New World 2025 nearly 27 years after breaking up. However, the festival was ultimately cancelled in November 2024. Acid Bath's first show since 1997 took place at The Filmore, New Orleans in April 2025, and they have continued this reunion tour since.
