Biography
Adult DVD are a six-piece dance-punk band from Leeds, England, formed during the COVID-19 lockdown by friends Harry Hanson and Greg Lonsdale. The pair began writing tunes to each other over the internet while exploring their shared interest in dance music. As their ideas developed into complete songs, they recruited Jonathan Newell, Danny Blackburn, Jake Williams and Charlie Howard to form a full band.
Their sound combines post-punk, synth-punk, acid house and indie rock, bringing high-tempo electronic rhythms together with live instrumentation, synthesizers and melodic hooks. They cite LCD Soundsystem and Soulwax among their influences. Their music pairs dancefloor energy with offbeat lyrics and an irreverent approach to songwriting. Blackburn also contributes to the band's production.
