Alexis Sunder

Biography

Alexis Sunder is a Cypriot singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose signature sound is defined by head-bobbing grooves, introspective lyrics and sunny melodies. His eponymous debut EP, released in early summer of 2022, is a delicious groove-driven exploration of bright and darker themes that would not be out of place in the soul section of any vinyl shelf from the 70s until now. His eye-catching sophomore performance at Fengaros Festival’s field stage (2022) underlined Sunder’s emergence as one of Cyprus’ promising new songwriters and a staple in the island’s budding songwriting music community, who blends soul, funk and rock to offer fresh impressions on retro vibes.

Sunder is also a songwriter and vocalist for the Island Seeds, a music collective of Cyprus’ two main communities, who through their sound of groovy slow-jams and psychedelic funk-infused melodies present one of Cyprus’ most unique musical groups. He also served as songwriter and bassist for the collaborative Eurotoire project that brought together artists from across Europe, co-writing 8 songs from their ‘On A Red Thursday' album.
