Biography
Altar in Darkness is a Ukrainian raw black metal project known for its hostile, misanthropic, and cold-hearted style with bitter melodicism. Active since around 2020, the band draws from old-school raw black metal traditions (reminiscent of classic underground acts) while maintaining a distinctly bleak and atmospheric edge.
The project operates in the Ukrainian underground black metal scene, delivering true old-school raw black metal characterized by hostile atmospheres, tremolo riffs, and a sense of sorrow and hate. It is often described as inhospitable and merciless. The band has been associated with the label Victims of Fate. Status is listed as on hold following the death of drummer Navash (R.I.P. 2023), to whom the 2026 album is dedicated.
