The band was planned to be, even before the members learned to master their instrument. This was something that the 3 members had faith in. The band name originates from when Cato and Roy went to the Youth Academy, it was a moment uncertainty; what the band would be called, but anti IQ was the final choice.

Anti IQ is a DIY band and all members are self-taught on their instrument. This is something that makes the music a great listen. Anti IQ began to promote themselves at various sites, f.ex Ultimate guitar tabs, Urørt.no and Myspace, but did not feel they had the necessary feedback they needed, so the summer of 2009 the band finally got enough equipment to start playing gigs at their own initiative. Resulting in the first rock concert at Ørteland in history.

The trio as it is today was founded summer 2008. That summer was used to write their own songs and to practice in the process. Anti IQ has never considered seriously play cover songs. The songs that were written in the summer was recorded numerous demo versions, but first summer 2009 was 10 of these songs recorded and released through Øynaheia Studios run by Cato and Roy Nystøl.

The album "We Are Not Afraid" is sold independent from the members and on iTunes. But there are concerts that you indeed to see and hear what the Anti-iq stands for.
