Biography

Absoultely no information available, however an excerpt from an article in DNA:

In this day and age, are there still people who deliver a Bollywood superhit and then not want to see their faces in print or TV even once? Not even reveal their real names? The makers of Dev.D would like us to believe there are.

We are talking about the voices behind the song that has become the most popular status message on Google chat: Emosanal Atyachar. In the album, it is credited to Rangila and Rasila, referred to intriguingly only as‘Bandmaster Brothers’.

But who are they? Why are they nowhere on the scene to claim their rightful place in the media sun? Dev.D director Anurag Kashyap had earlier told DNA that they were folk singers from Himachal who had given them a demo CD for the audition. They liked it so much that they decided to use it. But when he tried to contact them, he “could not find them.”

Dev.D’s music director Amit Trivedi, on the other hand, said that the “cast and crew have sworn not to reveal details about the singers.” Clearly, one of them — either Trivedi or Kashyap — is not telling the truth, for you can’t not know where they are and still swear not to reveal their whereabouts.

When DNA wrote to the singers asking foran interview (to an email ID provided by Kashyap), the response was so strange it could have been straight out of Dev.D. “We are sorry. We don’t want our faces anywhere. We do this as a hobby. We are students. If Bapu comes to know he will kill us.”

This, from the singers of today’s biggest Bollywood chartbuster. And who is Bapu anyway? Why does he not want his ‘wards’ Rangila and Rasila to bask in well-deserved glory? Was it Rangila or Rasila or someone else who replied on their behalf? Are these self-effacing superstars really reclusive geniuses, or is there more to it than meets the eye?

Too much emosanal atyachar over a couple of bandmasters, don’t you think?
