“Eddie Benitez was born to play guitar. But he is much more than that. Eddie has an inborn talent for songwriting, arranging and producing. Not only for his own music, but for other artists as well . . . . The beauty of his songwriting is recognized by anyone with an ear for rhythmic and romantic joy. Eddies latest effort shows a maturity that belies his long career.” George Benson

The Songs

To listen to Eddie Benitez is to listen to music that is as spiritual as it is sensual. This new CD is a breakthrough that demonstrates a rare depth in music today—music that is permeated with sensuality and spirituality, proving there is no need to separate the two. The music comes from a dive deep into his heart and soul, a bit of a commune with angels, and a return trip with these intoxicating gems for the world to enjoy.

The lineup of songs includes the passionate “They Cry,” a song attributed to angelic inspiration, and one that can be powerfully healing to those who listen to it, especially if listened to in a meditative way.

“Beyond Love Itself”

“I know of no other guitarist who can simultaneously deliver a sound that is raw guitar gutsiness cohabitating with a clarity and tone that are a symphony of control and lightness. That takes genius, and that is what we are hearing.” MaryEllen O’Brien

“Lovers Never Say Goodbye,” the title cut, is a heartfelt tribute to the belief that when love is real, the lovers will never part. It is lush and intricate, a rainforest of sound that has a purity to it.

“Whatever Happened to the Night” is the only cut on the CD with vocals, and it becomes instantly memorable as a song exploring the loss of love with beautiful, longing lyrics and of course, soaring guitar hooks. This song is radio ready—a hit from the first listen.

“Flight to Heaven” will take you away to a place of joy on the wings of angels. This song was inspired by a vision of a heavenly boarding area and masses of people awaiting their final flight to a beautiful place of peace. The song has surprising shifts and currents that fuel the flight, one minute gently lifting you toward the heavens, the next minute firing a guitar blast with uncanny clarity that propels you yet higher, where you will find yourself suddenly moving to Latin/New Age rhythms.

A stellar example of the blend of sensuality and spirituality is “New Generation.” This cut gives us Eddie’s fire-breathing guitar in an energy laden hotpot of sensuality mixed with powerful spirituality. Then there is the glorious “Beautiful Sunrise” where Benitez’s guitar seems to music what the sun is to light and life.

For 2 ½ years the Discovery Channel pursued Eddie to be featured in an episode of their series, “A Haunting. The song, “A Haunting,” was composed for that episode. Called “Casa de los Muertos,” it tells the story of a haunting in which his son, Eddie Jr., became possessed by a spirit inhabiting the home the family had moved into. (“They Cry” is also featured in the episode.) This episode originally aired in October 2007 and put Eddie on the Google trend list at number 37, the highest of any jazz artist ever. Due to popular demand the episode has already been re-aired 7 times in U.S. with another airing set for March 12 at 11:00 a.m. EST. The episode debuts in Asia March 8th at 11:00 p.m. and again March 9th at 2:00 a.m. Four airings in Canada are also scheduled: March 14th at 12:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., and March 15th at 3:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. (EST in Canada.) Airings in Europe are to follow.

Eddie is also considering an offer from the A&E Network for his own show.

Angels on My Stage

The spirituality of Eddie Benitez’s music goes hand in hand with his spiritual gift of sight that has allowed him to see angels and spirits since childhood. More recently, others claim to have seen angels on the stage when he performs. The Lovers Never Say Goodbye CD is about to propel a world tour for Benitez in which anything could happen—this tantalizing, sensuous music will captivate audiences, and quite possibly, angels may appear!

Eddie is now

in demand by numerous organizations to give talks about music and spirituality.
