Blindead 23 is a Polish avant-garde/progressive post-metal band from Gdynia, formed in 2022 as a continuation/reincarnation of the earlier band Blindead (1999–2019, originally under the name Incorrect Personality).
The band was originally founded in 1999 and built a cult following in the Polish underground with a sound evolving from sludge/doom and progressive extreme metal into more atmospheric post-metal territories across several albums (Devouring Weakness, Autoscopia/Murder in Phazes, the acclaimed conceptual Affliction XXIX II MXMVI, Absence, and Ascension). They went on hiatus or split around 2019.

In 2022, guitarist Mateusz “Havoc” Śmierzchalski (ex-Behemoth, known for his work on albums like Thelema.6 and Zos Kia Cultus) revived the project under the new name Blindead 23. It features a high-profile, international-leaning lineup that brings fresh energy while honoring the atmospheric and heavy roots of the early material.
Blindead 23 blends sludge metal weight, post-metal atmospheres, progressive structures, and experimental/avant-garde elements with heavy riffs, mesmerizing electronics, cinematic soundscapes, and intense dynamics. Their music often explores conceptual, introspective, and emotional themes — from doubt and uncertainty to soulful reflection. It draws comparisons to acts like Neurosis, Rosetta, Mouth of the Architect, and even touches of Katatonia or Opeth in production and scope.
