Biography
Bong-Ra is the pioneering breakcore alter-ego of Dutch musician Jason Köhnen (born 1972), active since 1997 and recognized for blending intense electronics with extreme metal and raggacore. A former death metal drummer, Köhnen has released numerous experimental albums, often blending breakcore, industrial, and doom metal, and is a key figure in the "bongcore" style.
Bong-Ra pioneered "raggacore"—a high-speed fusion of jungle, breakcore, and gabber—and later adopted heavy, apocalyptic industrial metal influences, such as on the album Antediluvian (2018) and Black Noise (2025).
