Biography
Brandon Juhans is a Durham, North Carolina-based producer who draws from hip-hop, punk and post-punk, film scores, and experimental music to craft an otherworldly pastiche of ominous atmospheres, lurching grooves, and vividly twisted samples. He has released music using the monikers madbearHANZ and HANZ, including several releases on Tri Angle Records (Reducer - 2014/2015, Plasty I & Plasty II - 2018), and has had mixes featured in publications such as FACT Magazine and Self-Titled Magazine.
In September 2020, Juhans released Essential Dread, his debut album under his given name, on his own Plasty ltd label. His collaborative album with Lolina under the name L4b was released in November 2022 through Relaxin Records. In January 2023, Juhans released the followup to Essential Dread, entitled In Scribble.

Juhans revived the Hanz moniker in 2024 for Note from the Editor, also released through Plasty ltd. He returned to Relaxin in 2025 for the release of Recycler, a 'nocturnal audio puzzle' that finds the producer skewering and reanimating samples used in a number of his previous works.
