Biography
Cannabis Crypt is a brutal death metal/hardcore band hailing from Lynn, Massachusetts, formed in 2018. Emerging from the gritty New England underground scene, the band was born out of the ashes of local hardcore punk outfit Distressor. Seeking a heavier, more aggressive sound, core members Jesse Potter (vocals), Kevin Lally (guitars), and Brian Houde (drums) came together to blend the raw energy of hardcore with the crushing brutality of death metal, incorporating slam and beatdown influences. They were soon joined by Mike Bourgeois (second guitar) and Eddie Chipman (bass), both of whom brought experience from Distressor and other local acts like Dry Heave. The band’s name reflects their tongue-in-cheek nod to cannabis culture, paired with a nod to the grotesque imagery common in death metal.
