Coma Control is a Finnish progressive death metal project from Tampere, created and entirely handled by multi-instrumentalist Tapio Honka. As a fully independent project, Honka is responsible for the songwriting, instrumentation, vocals, recording, production and artwork behind the band's releases.
Combining progressive death metal with technical musicianship, melodic passages and atmospheric songwriting, Coma Control creates music that balances crushing heaviness with intricate arrangements and emotional depth. Complex riffs, shifting rhythms, dynamic vocal contrasts and melancholic melodies form the foundation of a sound that moves between aggression, introspection and expansive progressive exploration.

The project's music often embraces long-form compositions and evolving structures, allowing heavy sections to collide with calmer, more atmospheric moments. Drawing from the progressive metal tradition while maintaining a strong death metal core, Coma Control focuses on creating immersive journeys rather than simply showcasing technical ability.
The debut concept album, Perennial, was released in November 2024, introducing the project's ambitious progressive death metal vision. In August 2026, Coma Control returned with the second full-length, Shed the Sleep, a seven-track album that further develops Honka's approach through intricate musicianship, dark atmospheres and a more refined balance between brutality and melody.
