Biography
Comfort Slacks was formed in May of 2009 by husband and wife team Matt and Jessie Fagan. Sick of television and pop culture in general, Matt and Jessie started playing music together in order to further create their own culture. Their genre is called Geek Wave, blending elements of electro pop, electro punk and surf pop.
Both have backgrounds steeped in creativity. Matt has played music since he was a wee lad and has been in countless bands in and around Jersey City, New Jersey, where he was born and raised. Jessie, a coarse artist, has been making art all her life and has recently discovered the joy of translating her inner world of imagination and vision into making music. She has lived all over the place, most notably in Zurich, Switzerland (where she was born and partially raised) Tampa, London, upstate New York, Houston, and most recently Jersey City, where she and Matt moved from two years ago.

Regarding the songwriting process, Matt says, "We don't limit ourselves to a particular style. We just play whatever comes out and we make that a song.” “ But it's important for us to write music we would listen to. We don't want to go through the process to create something we don't believe in 100%," Jessie adds.
Their aesthetic revolves around the absurd and hilarious, though they are not a novelty band. They spearhead topics such as conspicuous consumption, hyper capitalism, gender roles and surfing, though neither has ever surfed. They are adamant about letting the world know what they feel is bullshit.
With no shortage of imagination and creativity, Comfort Slacks takes on the flimsy architecture of pop culture with big plans to topple it in order to create an environment where the handmade and personal rule this godforsaken earth.
They currently reside in Napa, CA.
