Biography

Banjo wielding folk-rock troubadour Corinna Rose will make your heart flutter and use its beat to start a hoedown. Named after a traditional country-blues song, and her great-grandmother, Rose was raised on folk, but has always gravitated towards alt, pop, indie and prog rock. Self-produced and recorded in Montreal with engineer Joseph Donovan (The Dears, Sam Roberts), Rose released her debut full-length record 'Northeast Southwest' in April 2013. Pushing the boundaries of the folk world, 'Northeast Southwest' describes the feeling of being drawn in different directions, and explores the freedom and strain of being in-between. Banjo twangs and sweet rings of the autoharp are juxtaposed with crooked rhythms, jazz cords and electric guitars while string and horn sections add an orchestral texture alongside soaring vocals. Marked with heart-wrenching personal nuance, 'Northeast Southwest' tells stories of nostalgia, loss, the countryside and breaking other people's hearts.
