Since its formation in the summer of 2008, Cougarettes, a Montreal-based quartet has created a real buzz within the local music scene and on music blogs around the world. The Cougarettes emerged from the combination of multiple music and video based projects: the embryonic duo Cardy and jRRRy, Frank Garret as a solo artist, and visual performer Pepe. The group’s first song, “Ego Head,” was inspired by a jRRRy and Cardy jam recording, which was then mixed with a song off Frank Garrett’s solo project. Their sound is a mixture of cold and steady beats, deep analog bass, modified electronic toys, and skipped-chopped screamy vocals.
