Biography
There are multiple artists/bands that use the name Dr. Smith. Not to be confused with jazz musican Dr. Lonnie Smith.
1. Dr. Smith was a Choctaw, OK based hard rock/prog rock group active up to 2017. The active members were Norman Breedlove (who was the main vocalist as well as keyboardist and flutist), Rick Lloyd (lead guitarist and mandolin player, as well as main lyricist and digital artist), Barry McKeown (guitarist), David Lay (bassist), and Bill Condos (drummer/percussionist). The band had been active throughout the 2000s - late 2010's, notably releasing their debut/only known album in December 2010, "Songs from the Heart" - this album featured songs such as "Burn", "Zombie Bitches Kicking Peoples Ass", and most famously "Timmy". Each of these featured songs had an accompanying music video, featuring the band performing in front of a MS Paint animated music video created by guitarist Rick Lloyd. These videos would garner some appeal and renown for their unusual style and be shared by music video compilation creators on social media platforms, such as the CatatonicYouths channel, even well after the band's active period.

The band would tour primarily in Oklahoma, and drew comparisons to Rush, Bad Company and other hard rock/AOR acts of note. Their themeing usually involved horror and/or fantasy subjects/imagery, with a mixture of real life scenarios and influences.
In 2017, the guitarist Rick Lloyd passed away from cancer 14 months after diagnosis. Per comments from the Dr. Smith YouTube channel on their videos replying to fans, the band considers the project to be done as Rick Lloyd was the main driver and inspiration of the band and they could not move on without him, and the remaining members no longer have the desire to play together live.
The Dr. Smith channel occassionally uploads cuts and demo material, with the most recent being in 2023. Other places to find their music include ReverbNation, SoundCloud and Bandcamp. They are currently not on any other streaming services and their former website is defunct.
2. Dr. Smith is an Angola, Africa musician and producer. He had released a compilation of works entitled "The Best of Dr. Smith - African Vibe" in 2019 under the GTM label.
