Biography

Dunkirk's (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Achingly suspenseful from its opening track, "The Mole", Hans Zimmer's dark, disturbing, and mostly electronic score often suggests an intensification of his earlier non-melodic music for director Christopher Nolan. Indeed, Nolan's own wristwatch provides the ominous intermittent pulse indicating this evacuation tale's mortal stakes. Shepard tones and pounding percussion create panic within stasis during the nightmarish "Oil", and Edward Elgar's "Nimrod" variation is deconstructed during Dunkirk's monumental finale
