Biography
Captivated by the fantastical moods created in classical music (favorites include Liszt, Debussy, Beethoven, Mozart, Schumann, Schubert, and Chopin), Emily taught herself to play piano by ear at age 12.
Trained in both classical and improvisational technique, Emily gravitated toward dark, haunting melodies. Her influences span a range of artists across genres, from Sarah McLachlan, Eva Cassidy, and Tori Amos to Janes Addiction, Snow Patrol, and Radiohead.

After returning from three weeks in India in 1998, Emily Alice was inspired to purchase her own piano, and immediately began composing songs. Twelve years and about 50 songs later, she will release her first album Taking Shape in Summer 2010.
Forging a sound that is alarmingly beautiful, standing apart in a world of mimics, Emily Alice is sure to captivate any audience.
