Biography
FILE UNDER HUMANOID
File Under Humanoid (File // Humanoid and F // H) is a solo dark alternative / grungewave project based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Operating under the tagline "Surviving Inside Malfunction," the project treats its catalog as an archive rather than a discography. This manifests as a body of recovered evidence documenting systemic and psychological failure, filed under three internal classifications: Field Reports (external, environmental, civic collapse), Archive entries (internal, psychological failure), and Incident Reports (the moment contradiction becomes undeniable).

Sound
File Under Humanoid's sound sits at the intersection of noise rock pressure (Jesus Lizard), industrial collapse (Nine Inch Nails), and earned emotional payoff (Porter Robinson). Signature sound is described within the project as "the clean dirt wall": articulate distortion, controlled dissonance, and moments of stripped, baritone-led intimacy. Instrumentation centers on a Fender Jaguar, an analog pedal chain, and a Hughes & Kettner amp, with select tracks incorporating minimal synth and low-register pad work.
Releases
Notable tracks include "Shallowed Breakwater," documenting a facade of civic infrastructure that failed while appearing structurally sound and "Last Good Year," a stripped guitar-bass-vocal single addressing recurring grief and loss. The Heart of the Spiral EP and Fuel The Flame EP comprise the project's early catalog, alongside the in-development Everything Tastes Like Pennies EP and the Dealer's Choice: Ante Morteum archive.
Physical Artifacts
File Under Humanoid frequently accompanies releases with limited, handmade physical objects presented as recovered rather than manufactured which include hand-numbered filing tags, letters written in fountain pen on cotton rag paper, and archival packaging referencing coordinates, recovery IDs, and condition reports rather than conventional merchandise framing.
