Biography

Finchap (2004-2007) was an alternative experimental rock band from outside Glasgow Scotland comprising brothers Harry and William Wright on drums and guitar respectively, and David "Sven" Hibberd on bass guitar.

Although starting out as a metal influenced outfit performing under the name Final Chapter, the band soon grew into a more experimental indie sound after their first album and shortened the name to Finchap.

After finishing début album "Propaganda Through Pandemonium" (summer 2004) and disappointed with the quality of the recording all subsequent studio work was done by their own hand.

So followed a double A-side, "Skin / Inside My Head" recorded at their school studio; and an EP called "Shadows of a Broken World" which existed in two forms (the original consisting of three songs, the later including two instrumental pieces as well as rerecordings of the three songs). Final copies of the EP included a live bonus track of Neil Hefti's 'Batman Theme'.

It was during these sessions that the band started experimenting with sounds, reversing guitar and drums samples, processing non-sensical vocals completely out of recognition and using instruments outside the core bass, guitar and drums to include timpani and grand piano.

After leaving school, the band recorded in a converted loft. This is where they made their next single, "Dialogue" and the subsequent album "Questions in the Dark". These displaying further use of less conventional instruments, synthesizers and audio processing. A full list can be found on the insert of the album.

In 2007 the band went on hiatus, with all three members having too many other commitments. They played their final show at the now defunct Subway Cowgate in Edinburgh that August, with a special appearance from close friend of the band Gordon Forbes.
