Biography
FINDER (Jochen Gros) is a German musician from Hanover.
Jochen Gros moves between two very different worlds. During the week, he teaches music and mathematics at a secondary school in Hanover. On weekends, he performs as the frontman of his band Finder. Originally from Soltau, Gros moved to Kassel for his studies before settling in Hanover, where he now lives and works. In his free time, he writes music that drifts somewhere between alternative, indie, punk, and pop.

Finder started about ten years ago as a classic four-piece band with bass, drums, guitar, and vocals. Today, the project is largely Gros on his own, as the other members have stepped back to focus on family and work. Still, the sound remains diverse and full of contrast. Gros avoids sticking to any single genre; what matters most to him is that each song feels genuine—whether it’s energetic, introspective, or experimental.
His path into music began early, even though there wasn’t much of a musical tradition in his family. As a child, he sang in a choir, later learned to play the piano, and performed in school bands and a big band. With Finder, these early experiences grew into something bigger. The band went on tour through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, and in 2017 appeared on the TV show Circus HalliGalli.
Gros is currently working on a new album. Two of its songs—Schwerelos and Ich kann dich fast schon sehen—have already been released and are among Finder’s most-streamed tracks on Spotify. He writes his lyrics in German, as that’s the language in which he feels he can express himself most precisely. His goal is to strike a balance between clarity and depth.
In Hanover, Finder has played venues like LUX, the Pavillon, and the Fährmannsfest. Still, the city doesn’t yet feel like a true home base for the project. With new music in progress and plans to work with a booking agency, Gros hopes to bring Finder back on stage more often—both in Hanover and beyond.
