Biography

Futures Passed is from Tampa, Florida, USA and was formed in 2005. The first recordings under this name took place in 2006.

Futures Passed is the name of both the band and solo projects from the band's founder, Stephen Brand. In 2005, Steve picked up a guitar for the first time, and eventually started writing short instrumental tunes and lyrics without music, with the intent to eventually play alternative rock. He occasionally played with some people that were essentially session musicians, the most successful of them was Adam Watson and Austin Elliot. None of these sessions were recorded, except for Steve's solo Something Sound Sessions.

In 2008, Steve discovered a moderately underground phenomenon known as YouTube Poop. This would eventually lead him to make music videos in this style, also known as YTPMVs. He released these in yearly collections in 2009 and 2010.

In January of 2010, Steve started his own label, Futures Passed Free Music, and often collaborated with musicians from it as well as some from the Breakbit label. The label changed names and was slowly abandoned. 2011 was the last year Futures Passed would release music for years.

In 2026, Steve began writing and recording new material again.
