Gabriel Benedek (born Gabriel Lauber) is a Swiss singer, songwriter, and musician based in Basel, Switzerland. Known for his genre-blending musical style that mixes poetic pop with electronic and country influences, he performs with a distinctively warm, smoky voice.
Benedek was born into a multicultural household with Irish and Hungarian roots. He grew up in Basel and began his musical journey at age 10 when he started playing the piano. He later picked up the guitar and began writing his own music and lyrics by the age of 14, drawing early stylistic inspiration from artists like Jack Johnson and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
