Biography

Girls' Generation-HRS (소녀시대-효리수, also known as HyoRiSoo) is the third subunit of the girl group Girls' Generation. They made their debut on August 31, 2026 with the digital single "Skibidi".

Since Girls' Generation debuted in 2007, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, and Yoona have been recognized as the group's Dance Line, consisting of its primary dancers. Throughout the group's career, the four members performed together in numerous dance stages on television programs, at SM Entertainment events, and at music festivals. Although Yoona is officially part of the Dance Line, several performances featured only Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Sooyoung. The trio subsequently became known among fans by the acronym SHY, derived from the initials of their names.

In 2015, Sooyoung, Hyoyeon, and Yuri performed together for the first time under the name SHY during Girls' Generation's fourth concert tour, Phantasia, in Japan. The stage consisted of a cover of "Push It", originally recorded by the duo Salt-N-Pepa, combining dance and comedic elements. What many fans interpreted as a potential spoiler for the long-awaited sub-unit debut ultimately turned out to be a one-time special performance.

In 2026, Hyoyeon invited Sooyoung and Yuri to appear in a comedy skit on her YouTube channel, Hyo's Level Up, where she suggested the possibility of the three members debuting as a sub-unit. The project was later officially renamed Girls' Generation-HRS (HyoRiSoo).

Although the trio gained greater recognition and a more formal identity through media coverage, the project retained the members' signature sense of humor. Skibidi, the debut single, takes its title from the viral internet phenomenon that became popular among younger audiences and Gen Alpha. The release also reflects the humorous concept behind the debut: artists with nearly two decades of experience returning as rookies and playfully attempting to connect with a new generation of idols and fans.
