Biography:

Born Adam Camerato, godAWFUL began writing songs in his free time around the age of 11, which were more like poems with rhythm. No specific genre in mind, just an infatuation with music that drove him to write songs, which “thinking about it now, would be considered emo(emotional)”. At the age of 12, those songs’ lyrical content began to form into false ego-driven and exaggeratory rhymes, in the form of verses over mainstream beats. In other words, godAWFUL, was no longer a song-writer, but a rapper.

Under the moniker Orange Juice, godAWFUL began working hard to perfect his craft and working on the art of flow and the use of a different, more diverse vocabulary. He soon began recording his raps, at the age of 14, using a range of different software and equipment, from a computer microphone and windows sound recorder, to Cool Edit Pro and a cheap dynamic mic. After a couple years, the then O.J. was lucky enough to link up with an online collective named the Ill Mic Aphyliates, or IMA. The group, with a diverse set of members from almost every part of the globe, released a compilation CD, with a solo track from a 16 year old Orange Juice, titled “Trapped Inside”. Both the album and “Trapped Inside” were taken to well, and for the first time, young OJ considered rapping as more than just a hobby. Years passed, and the once tight collective began taking their own paths, and Orange Juice began taking the art of beat-making more serious. At the age of 18, Orange Juice dropped the 8-track “W.O.M.B.A.T. EP”, featuring some of the first times he would rap on his own beats. The EP’s single, “The F.L.U.I.D.”, a braggadocios introductory track with a pumping beat and a catchy hook, was submitted to Connecticut's Hot 93.7’s Local Artist Showdown and won 2 weeks in a row with the help of the support from friends and family. On the song’s 3rd week up, Adam lost a close friend in a tragic car accident, and welcomed his loss on the showdown with open arms and a new mind state. The incident had made Adam realize that “Orange Juice” and all that the name encompassed, had become a burden, a forced and untrue persona he took in hopes to be labeled an “ill rapper”. The next month, Adam dropped the immature alias of Orange Juice and took the name godAWFUL. With a mind state comparable to his 11 year old self, he no longer wanted to be a rapper, but just wanted to write songs and “make some fackin’ music.”

godAWFUL continues to stay true to that same mind state to this day, working on now 3 projects, with no fears of taking on more. His projects consist of a solo project with 95% of production being handled by himself, A & B Conversation with beat maker extraordinaire Swift Ikarus, and he is ½ of Tonight’s Musical Guest with old fellow IMA member, Youki Bae.

“Listen, the simple fact is I have a passion for music, and I’m going to make as much as possible. I can’t sing, I can’t play any instrument that great, but there are skills and talents I do have, and I promise you I will rock your facking head off for ever calling me anything less than a musician. This is my life, this is my love, the end.”
