2. Goodbye Lenin formed in 2007 when Frankie Lowe, a refugee from the London indie scene, left his band Atoms For Peace and returned to his native Edinburgh. There he met drummer and songwriter Kirsty McConnell who had just left her band The Yard. Two lead guitarists were then recruited, although they made one of them play bass. They were named Jon and John and came from as far away as Canada and Aberdeen. They played their first gig at the end of 2007 at Henry's Cellar Bar, and are currently working their way up to Murrayfield Stadium and beyond.
