Biography

Goodnight Tiger strike at the core of your heart with their stylish sensibilities and rich harmonies that flow seamlessly over a variety of music genres. The duo is composed of Jill Chrisp and Perrin Date, who first felt the curiosity of their shared talent at a half-hearted jam session on Australia Day 2009, post JJJ Hottest 100 and backyard pool volleyball. The pair started to perform live together in April that year, when playing songs in their bedroom to an audience of pets was no longer enough. Since then, they have been likened to artists such as Simon and Garfunkle, Sarah Blasko, Howling Bells and The Audreys.

The shared song-writing, guitar, vocal and percussive duties was an organic evolution between the two Tigers, who have been described by Drum Magazine as fast becoming the “pop darlings” of the local scene. Assisted by their own friendship and the generously doled out positive feedback from friends and strangers alike, Goodnight Tiger have joined the line-up for reputable gigs such as the Fringe Festivals for West Coast Blues and Roots ‘09, One Movement ‘09 Southbound ’10 and, most recently, RTRfm's annual local musical festival In The Pines 2010. Goodnight Tiger have played alongside other established and Perth favourites Felicity Groom, King George and Timothy Nelson and the Infidels. Additionally they have played in the W.A South-west region supporting a national act and will soon be supporting Australian songstress Katie Noonan at the Fly By NightClub.

The recent addition of bass player Bex Chilcott and drummer Mat Marsh has given the two girls the resources to show more variation in their live performance. Alongside drums, bass and guitars the girls have a growing collection of unusual instruments they use on stage such as the glockenspiel, melodica, tambourine, egg shaker and a stomp box. Now with the ability to play their songs as a duo for more intimate, acoustic gigs or play with a band for a fuller, more energetic sound, Goodnight Tiger are looking forward to sharing their songs with bigger crowds and maybe quitting their day jobs.
