The band was established by Harry Rijnbergen, who is best known as the frontman of sixties beat outfit RO-D-YS, with which band he enjoyed considerable Dutch chart success. Harley Jay, however, released just one single: 'Rosie' b/w 'Lifetime' in 1973. One of Rijnbergen's bandmates in Harley Jay was Peter Bootsman, who would later join New Adventures.
