"A profound statement made by a band who been playing music for less than two years. Statements can be deceiving. On the surface, it could make one look egotistical. To this Southern California quintet, it's trying to make people think.

"It's actually about the events that took place after Lennon's infamous statement that the Beatles were in fact bigger than Jesus himself." Travis Ducsay, guitarist for In Ashes We Lie states. "Religious groups went nuts and all of a sudden you had people burning their albums and paraphernalia in the street. Situations like these still continue today and it makes us sick. Our song is basically an open letter to organized religion: calm down, the Beatles were bigger than you."

In Ashes We Lie formed in 2002 and since then forged a sonic assault on the local area. Now it is time for us to expand. With a demo entitled "Nothing Says I Hate You," already under our belt, we are ready to unleash their debut EP onto the world. "This is Our Crime Scene," continues where the demo left off: Brutal intensity forged with an amalgamation of melodic discords and macabre harmony. Songs like "A day in the life of R. Kelly" and "The Beatles had it coming" show the bands tongue in cheek subject matter and their refusal to conform to the mainstream dribble of clichéd nonsense.

The new EP, which debuts on Give Up Your Ghost records on December 19th, showcases six songs, some of which came from their humble beginnings. Two re-recorded songs from their original demo appear on "Crime Scene" to bridge the gap between old and new. They are also there to showcase their maturation as musicians. It doesn't end in the studio. The real treat is watching the songs translate onto the stage.

"I have trouble keeping still. If I find myself standing, the next minute I'm on the floor screaming my brains out," Chad Craig, singer of I.A.W.L. says with a laugh. "I can't remember the last show we played were I didn't end up with a microphone imprint on my forehead."

The band, rounded out by Logan Ducsay, Paul Chapman, and Josh Haws leave the audience with blink-and-you'll-miss-it stage antics. No show is finished without something broken or someone bleeding. It is there to emphasize the bands true passion of their music, a lost art these days.

Since their first show in April of 2002, In Ashes We Lie has shared the stage with such bands as Sinai Beach, Horse the Band, The Kinison, and countless local and national acts. They have also been featured on a compilation titled "Death is but a door" featuring Strung Out, Offset, and Anadivine. 2004 will see In Ashes We Lie touring relentlessly to promote their new EP and to meet new people who share their same excitement and energy for music.

By the way, we like The Beatles." -Website Bio

2) Post hardcore/metalcore from Tanglewood, New South Wales, Australia. Released a demo in 2002. Signed to Common Bound Records. Broke up in 2005 and reformed in 2013 under the name In Ashes, releasing an EP entitled "Young Hearts".

"In late 2002 Christiaan-Guitar Nathan-Vocals Simon-Drums Lee-Bass formed a band which combines melody, heavy breakdowns and emotionally charged vocals, to be named IN ASHES WE LIE. They set out to make an impression on their hardcore music scene and also to evolve as a band and that is exactly what they have done. With their already diverse music they have added rock motivated riffs to take another step forward and be the only band in Australia to play this style of music.

“In Ashes” are proud members of the forever growing “North Coast Hardcore”.In the time the have been together they have supported bands such as; The Hope Conspiracy(USA) Embodiment12:14(Adelaide) Stronger than Hate(Syd) Against(Bris) Mourningtide(GC) A secret death(GC) I Killed the Prom Queen(Adelaide) Perish the thought(syd)Means to an End(syd) Shotpointblank(Adelaide) Parkway Drive(BB). And have also played with all the North Coast Hardcore bands.

In 2003 they were signed to Sydney based Record label CommonBond Records. In the coming year In Ashes We Lie have only to look forward to better things, having just released their demo cd ,They will be going into the studio in early April to record their first E.P. to be followed with an East Coast tour. In Ashes We Lie are definitely a band to look out for in the near the future." -Website Bio
