Hitchell works under numerous monikers, exploring varied shades of spatial, tape-saturated, and echo-laden electronic music:
Echospace: A celebrated collaborative project with Rod Modell, bridging deep Detroit techno and spacey Jamaican dub,
cv313: A meditative, panoramic solo-driven alias focusing on expansive control-voltage configurations and deep ambient dub.
Intrusion: A project leaning heavily into warm analog tones, tape delay, and occasional reggae/dub vocals (such as collaborations with Tikiman).
Variant & Soultek: Early and ongoing aliases exploring micro-sonic sound design, field recordings, and minimal hypnotic pulses
Hitchell’s sound design relies heavily on vintage hardware, reel-to-reel tape machines, and physical acoustic textures instead of software computers. His tracks are characterized by deep rolling basslines, massive atmospheric reverb, crackling vinyl-like warmth, and field recordings captured from city rainstorms or late-night transit systems.
