Biography
Heinrich Anton Jacob Herschel (born November 17 or 21, 1734 in Hanover, died 1792 ) was a Hanoverian concert music master and brother of William Herschel.
Jacob was the second of ten children of Anna Ilse, née Moritzen, (born 1712/13 in Neustadt/Rbg; died November 19, 1789) and Isaac Herschel (born January 14, 1707 in Hohenziaz, Magdeburg). In March 1756 Jacob sailed to England with his father's orchestra and returned at the end of the year. As a result of the Battle of Hastenbeck in July 1757, he went into hiding, met his brother Wilhelm in Hamburg and accompanied him back to England. In 1779, after peace had returned to his homeland in Hanover, he returned and found a post in the court orchestra. After his father's death, Jacob became the head of the family. At the end or on the 23rd of June 1792, as vice concert master, he was found strangled in the field.
