Born in Denver, Colorado, Arent began playing guitar at the age of 12 after becoming obsessed with The Beatles. Early exposure to Stevie Ray Vaughan deepened his interest in the blues, leading him to study artists such as Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Freddie King, Albert King, and others.

He earned a degree in jazz studies from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and later completed a master’s degree in studio/jazz guitar at the University of Southern California (USC). After settling in Los Angeles, he established himself as a versatile session and touring musician.

As a sideman, Arent has performed and recorded with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Matthew Morrison, B. Slade, Spencer Day, Nigel Hall, and Raquel Rodriguez. His guitar work has appeared on soundtracks for Netflix (including the series Motown Magic, featuring performances with Smokey Robinson and Trombone Shorty), TBS, and Comedy Central, as well as the film Zombieland: Double Tap.

Solo Work

In 2019, Arent released his debut EP The Back Burner, a guitar-focused collection of blues, funk, jazz, and soul produced by renowned guitarist Josh Smith. The EP features guest appearances by Nigel Hall (of Lettuce) and Raquel Rodriguez, along with co-writes involving Amber Navran (of Moonchild) and Spencer Day. Notable tracks include How Far We've Come (feat. Raquel Rodriguez), The Back Burner, Castle Green, and 47 Days.

He later released the single Sanguine in 2025, continuing his blend of soulful grooves and expressive guitar playing.
