Biography

Justine & Juliette was an industrial and power electronics duo formed in Madison, Wisconsin, United States. Active during the late 1980s cassette underground, the project consisted of Elise Fife and Elizabeth Stephens. In May 1988, they entered Arbeithaus studios to record their material. The album was engineered and mixed by Thomas Thorn (later of My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult and founder of The Electric Hellfire Club). Released on the Arbeit Group label, the short-lived project only officially issued one standalone album before vanishing into obscurity.

The moniker "Justine & Juliette" was directly lifted from the twin, controversial 18th-century novels written by the Marquis de Sade: Justine (1791) and Juliette (1797).
