2) K² is a progressive rock band founded by bassist Ken Jaquess in 2001, following his eight years playing with the group Atlantis. The band grew out of a solo concept project based on the Egyptian Book of the Dead, which Jacquess began developing with drummer Doug Sanborn before expanding it to include guitarist Allan Holdsworth, Spock's Beard keyboardist Ryo Okumoto, vocalist Shaun Guerin, guitarist John Miner, and violinist Yvette Devereaux. The resulting debut album, Book of the Dead, was released in April 2005 to favorable reviews. K²'s lineup for subsequent live shows and their 2010 follow-up album consists of Jaquess, Sanborn, and Okumoto, joined by guitarist Karl Johnson and vocalist Josh Gleason of The Waiting Room.
