Biography
Kaseva are a legendary Finnish rock group. Similar to many other suomirock acts, Kaseva don’t fit neatly into any single genre definition. Formed in the late 1960s, the band rehearsed in a cellar for years without anyone knowing about them. In the early 1970s, they sent an English-language demo to Love Records, a now-legendary Helsinki-based label. Kaseva were offered a record deal with one condition: the songs had to be in Finnish. After translating the lyrics, their debut album, Silloin kun, was released in 1974. Notably, the band didn’t have a name before the album’s release. The word Kaseva comes from Finland’s national epic, the Kalevala, and means "handy" or "convenient."
Kaseva played their first gig on 5 February 1975.

Their second album, Kun maailma elää, was released in 1976. It showcased the group’s talent for vocal harmonies—reminiscent of the late greats, The Beatles—and featured brilliant arrangements, partly credited to producer Otto Donner.
Kaseva’s third and, to date, final full-length album, Meidän huoneessa, was released in 1982. Tragically, Asko Raivio, the band’s principal songwriter and composer, died in 1989, and Kaseva have not released new material since 1982.
Despite this, Kaseva are still active, performing gigs across Finland and earning widespread respect from musicians in the Finnish music scene.
