His older brother Džemal Malovčić helped him through his early career writing both the music and lyrics for him. However, his greatest success came with the Yugoslav band Južni Vetar between 1985 and 1991.
During the Bosnian war Malovčić left Južni Vetar. He no longer wanted to belong to a band which was at the forefront of the turbo-folk movement of Serbia. Whilst the civil war raged, Malovčić campaigned for humanitarian assistance for his country and gave a number of humanitarian concerts.
Malovčić lives in Vienna, Austria with his wife, Fadila, and three sons, Džanan, Kenan and Ali.
