Biography
Kit Weyman, better known by his stage name Kit Knows, is a writer and performer living to a beat. The melodic rapper carries a balance of classic samples and futuristic synths in his music, generating contemporary sounds while remaining grounded in the roots of hip-hop's golden era. Catchy hooks are paired with deeply personal insight, question, and confession; electronic sounds are heard alongside live instrumentation; and live performances are highlighted by a natural stage presence. Kit Knows' music borders the past, present, and future - ducking genres, mixing frequencies, smoothly residing in the liminal bridge between old and new.
Downtown Toronto born and raised, and also having worked and lived in Cuba, Kit's frame is a collection of urban influence and worldly experience. An active member in the city's hip hop community, Kit is also known for his work as an actor, appearing in lead and supporting roles in various Canadian film and television. His long time association with the industry, combined with an adept skill and love of writing, has led him toward the creation of films and storytelling. An alumni of the drama program at Etobicoke School of the Arts, Kit then majored in creative writing/screenwriting at York University, with a minor in fine arts and cultural studies, culminating in the diverse spectrums and perspectives that his work inhabits.
