Biography
Kitty City barely exists, but they think they would be more motivated to create music if a girl from Essex hadn't already poached their name in the online realm. But that's that, and this is Kitty City: written, recorded and "mixed" in four days spread out over seven months. Tim Burden played/clicked the instruments and Dan Connelly sometimes played other instruments and aided with "Wish You Where Here" by naming it and helping to find the ugliest guitar chord imagineable. The songs name was changed to "Chateau on the Plateau" because Tim felt that the original joke became progressively less funny as time went by, so let's hope he's not so fickle and decides to change it back. Their practices, although the attempt was infrequent, were often cut short by a certain lack of dedication, a pompous "it'll all come together" attitude, their unfoundedly large egos, and a guy we knew who was usually lurking around the practice area openly questioning why they didn't sound like their last band. It should be noted that they didn't have any idea what they were doing with the drum machine program that was used, and that the term "budget recording" doesn't have enough negative conotations associated with it to describe the actions and attitudes that have been a part of the "Kitty City" experience so far. These might sound like excuses, but they're not. Kitty City needs not explain itself to you.
Kitty City used to be Tim Burden and Dan Connelly, then it was supposed to be Tim and his friend Kyle but Tim doesn't see Dan that much any more and Kyle wrote a play so you can imagine where this is going. Whatever. Anyway, Tim dusted off his drum machine and decided his voice wasn't pretty enough to preserve, hence song #2 - "The 41st is a Stellar Eagle". It's meant to be Kevin O'Connor's campaign song for his stab at the 41st district state representative seat in Illinois. He's in the Green Party so some party-specific lyrics became necessary. But all the usual bullshit applies: one or two takes for each part, three hours of arranging and recording and 5 minutes of "mixing", minimal technical expertise, even lower equipment and performance standards. Blah, blah. So, enjoy the songs, feel free to digitally befriend kitty city on myspace and if you live in the posh and luxurious 41st, vote for Kevin or die.
