Biography
Lachie Hattam is a young, self-taught modernist composer based in Melbourne, who takes great inspiration from composers such as Dmitri Shostakovich, Igor Stravinsky, Bela Bartok, Sergei Rachmaninoff, John Williams, and a plethora of other great composers. Lachie strives for the best in their music, and takes great pride in intricate details in harmony and writing with pencil and paper to capture the utmost idiomatic detail. Lachie is open to commissions, having already made a striking, dramatic entrance into the musical industry with their debut "Magician's Footsteps" in late 2025 with the Eltham Symphonic Orchestra, after having written it for them in early 2025. Lachie has written a film score for a private project entitled "Another Day, Another Disaster", a satire poking fun at the conventions of old-timey Golden-Age Hollywood silent films with a 'damsel in distress' and a 'heroic man to save the princess'; bringing an exuberant, expressive neo-romantic score to the project.
