With new single “Stay” being featured among 19 other up and coming international bands on Amazon and Tunecore’s Valentine’s sampler, a write up by seventeen magazine online, interviews on 98.3fm and Tuks fm and playlisting of the music video “Stay” on MKTV (to be aired from April) Lizban looks set to enter the South African Music scene on a high note in 2011.

Jaded, cutting lyrics contrasted against a vulnerability and a penchant for stating things as thy are, Lizban’s debut album is set to draw in fans of many genres alike. The influences of pop, rock, folk and alternative can be heard throughout the album.
Armed with two guitars and a little faith, Lizban ventured into the unknown and boarded a plane to London. The next few years were spent traveling, working and performing in London, Chicago and Dubai.
On returning from Dubai in 2008, a performance at a Starfish Charity event led to the meeting of Dan Patlansky, one of South Africa’s most critically acclaimed blues guitarists. Dan’s encouragement to focus on the art of songwriting strengthened the flame and Lizban went on to open for Dan Patlansky towards the end of 2008 and beginning of 2009.
Here after, Lizban was invited to open up for renowned artist Jesse Clegg on his “When I wake Up Tour” held at the Mandela theatre, JHB.
Lizban was also invited to open up for platinum-selling, award-winning artist Arno Carstens who was a great source of encouragement and inspiration.
Lizban has performed in many venues around the country including Tanz Cafe, Blues Room, Cafe Barcelona, Pablos, Mercury, Dorpstraat Theatre and Centurion Theatre among others.
2010 was spent focusing on the album. Recorded and produced by SAMA winning producer and engineer Crighton Goodwill, the album is an explosion of creativity featuring the talents of great South African session musicians: Raymond Green, Vinnie Henrico and Denny Lalouhette.
Lizban is currently forming and rehearsing the band to bring the magic of the album to the live shows.
