Biography
The band was first formed in March 1998 in Izmir by the current bassist and early guitarist Serkan Yayman (Creyuss), Firat Arslan (Xathar), and Xerfomania (Fırat Pirinççiler). Later, a vocalist (forgotten name) joined the group, but they didn't actively engage in studio work until 2000. There were only unplanned studio sessions once a week, and the schedule was undisciplined.
And the sleeves were rolled up… (September 2000)

In September 2000, Musa Uçan (Satiroah) from the disbanded Festered Holiness joined the group, and studio work was activated and organized. Following this, the group produced their first song, Halicination of The Mystic Anatolian Nights, followed by And My Saber. Until the end of 2000, the group consisted of Satiroah on vocals, Xathar on drums, Xerfomania on bass, and Creyuss on electric guitar. However, in December 2000, a leadership dispute between Creyuss and Satiroah caused the band to split and disband. On one side were Xerfomania and Satiroah, and on the other, Creyuss and Xathar… However, a few days later, Satiroah and Xerfomania announced the reformation of the group, sending the message correctly and bringing Xathar back in.
Ulaş Tekman and Ozan Külahçı join the group… Structure changes… (January 2001)
After this date, the group became ideologically and musically inward-looking and decided to continue with three members. However, this didn't last long, and Ulaş Tekman and Ozan Külahçı, who are the biggest contributors to the group's current style, joined (January 13, 2001). After this event, LS underwent a major overhaul. First, outdated works that didn't satisfy the band were discarded. The pure black metal style, which had been gradually diminishing since the band's inception, began to shift towards an influence somewhere between Amorphis and Opeth, without abandoning melodic black metal riffs, but a choice had to be made between the two. LS, whom the audience had always seen with makeup on stage, would now appear before them with a completely different stage setup and approach.
And the first LS takes the stage... (March 24, 2001, dd Organisation)
Following this structural change, the group performed for the first time at the İzmir-Grave Concert Hall… Playing three pieces at a large festival with 24 groups, their excellent stage performance and unexpected audience support showed that they were not alone on this thorny path they were walking barefoot on…
Xerfomania-Oxaa… (April 2001)
In April 2001, the band suffered a major loss. Xerfomania, the bassist considered the band's second founder, tragically left the group for personal reasons… Xerfomania, seemingly irreplaceable, silently relinquished his guitar to Egemen Şenturk (Oxaa)… This shock, following their first concert, seemed poised to shake LS, but Oxaa adapted very well to the group and filled an irreplaceable void, a festering wound… (At this time, Creyuss rejoined the band as the second guitarist, but was forced to leave for a second time due to personal reasons.)
Keep walking! (April-September 2001)
The massive band explosion in Izmir in 2001 lowered the quality of concerts, but a few groups, including LS, truly stood out from this chaos. The concerts they played and the reactions they received clearly demonstrated this. LS's sound, becoming more melodic and distinctive each day, illuminated the path LS was taking as it truly began to form a band… However, major cracks began to appear in the band in September…
A calm summer, the quiet before the storm? (June-September 2001)
After a quiet summer of 2001 with no rehearsals, the band reunited in September for rehearsals… There was no drop or rise in the band's quality, but the age-old rivalry of "leadership struggle" began to resurface within the group… between Ulaş Tekman and Satiroah… In a single day, Ulaş Tekman, Ozan Külahçı, and Oxaa left the band… It was a real collapse for the group… Those watching from the outside could no longer speak of a LS presence…
But before we even realized it, LS had regrouped… All summer, we talked about the possibilities. During the season, Unslaved bassist Tamer joined the band. At one point, Satiroah and Xathar even left, and while they were looking for a replacement for Satiroah, Reva, the drummer of today's Courtyard, joined. But this didn't last long; Xathar cut short his vacation and rectified the situation. From our conversations that summer, I understood the storm coming in September, and I even warned Satiroah about it. I think he was already aware of everything. He had quietly prepared the way for Yusuf (lead guitar), Grulenoxigos (rhythm guitar), and Namık (keyboard) to join the band… The fact that Satiroah and Xathar were the most level-headed before this upheaval already showed that these two had a strategy in place…
An Old Face, Again, Never to Go Away… (December 2001)
Actually, I introduced Creyuss and Satiroah. Their first meeting was quite cold, a husky "hello" that was barely enough... Then came their band adventure, steps taken together, and a bond that I still haven't been able to unravel... I think I wanted Creyuss to join the band more than anyone else... And finally, one day I'm announcing it again... Creyuss joined the band in February 2001. It was LS's most turbulent period. A new lineup, old songs, new personal interpretations... It was during such a period that Creyuss joined the band with a completely different instrument... A name that was rising day by day, playing bass as if he had been playing for years, fast and technical, and above all, someone who knew the band almost completely, was of course the biggest asset and success for LS during this chaotic period. The foundation of the band was being built, once again, on solid roots...
First recording attempt (Std. Vital February 2002)
LS's first demo, Gates Of Ash Sharqat, was recorded at Vital Studios, but the recording was cancelled due to the studio closing because of budget constraints.
Leaves falling to make way for renewal… (January 2002)
The first days of the new year started painfully again… Grulenoxigos, whose personal problems were a major issue for Namık and LS, who couldn't keep up with the style of the studio work, became a real problem in the band, and Namık quietly left first. However, Grulenoxigos, who had a relationship that developed outside of the musical partnership, became an increasingly bigger problem, and in January the band was down to four members again. Rhythm guitar had become indispensable in the band. The new style was entirely based on two guitars, and now LS was looking for a rhythm guitarist again. Among the many names tried, Burak joined the band as the only alternative and showed what he could do for Lost Symphony in the very first rehearsals without experiencing any compatibility problems… However, the band was still missing one much-needed instrument… Keyboard.
Back on stage… (Ege University, May 2002)
The band returned to the stage with this lineup after a very long time. It was exciting, and there were many people there who knew LS and were eagerly awaiting their performance… And LS was on stage with new compositions. They greeted their core audience with older songs like "Halicinations Of Mystic Anatolian Nights" and "And my saber brights through their deserted oasis," and then shook the Aegean with their subsequent compositions… "Epitaph Of Autumn," in particular, received high praise from listeners for its very "Opeth-esque" style. In addition, "Foggy Marshs Of Black Pine Forests" and "Shadow Storms" clearly showcased their new genre choices.
Separate Cities, Unextinguishable Fire (September 2002)
All members of the group except Burak and Yusuf dispersed to other cities for their studies: Satiroah (Bursa), Creyuss (Bergama), and Xathar (Eskişehir). This was interpreted by many as the breakup of Lost Symphony, but far from disbanding, LS continued its work, even finding a keyboardist to fill the void they had been missing. Avalon, a well-known figure in Aydın, editor of Nefret Fanzine and member of the Pedaru group, joined Lost Symphony. The group accelerated work on their album, Gates Of Ash Sharqat, which was scheduled for release in December 2002. This would be LS's first professional recording.
