Biography
Mädätys is a Finnish death/doom metal band from Oulu, formed in 2021. They deliver raw, primitive, and murky death-doom with heavy fuzz, downtuned riffs, and a haunting, oppressive atmosphere rooted in the Finnish underground tradition.
Mädätys draws from old-school death metal and doom influences (Celtic Frost, Rippikoulu, Mythic, Cianide) while incorporating abstract themes of society, humanity, nature, and death. Their sound is characterized by slow, crushing heaviness, primitive flailing, and a raw, lo-fi production that emphasizes murkiness and gloom. They are an independent act focused on traditional, atmospheric Finnish death/doom.
