El Maallem Mahmoud Gania is a member of a prominent Marrocan family of Gnawa musicians. Gnawa music is a traditional Marrocan type of music that combines the heritage of West African Slaves with the Arabic musical traditions of Morocco. It's usage includes the induction of a medicinal trance like state.
