Biography
"Marvelous Toy is what would happen if Sunset Rubdown/Wolf Parade frontman Spencer Krug listened to too much Billy Joel. Pounding piano lines are front and center with various percussion and orchestral accompaniment helping round out the sound.... Chock full of joyous and upbeat tracks that will bring a smile to your day no matter how bad it’s been. Songs are inviting in a familiar way but at the same time like nothing that you’ve ever really heard before. No matter what your flavor, Marvelous Toy can abide. Raucous? check. Downtempo? check. Emotional? check."

"...Pent-up energy, along with a torrent of the songwriter’s characteristic earnestness, is captured on Marvelous Toy’s debut, 'Not Moving'....'Waiting for the Fire' and 'I Have to Write This Over' are keepers, and 'El Infiél' found its way into a recent episode of 'American Horror Story.' The album’s piano-based songs are about as supercharged as piano-based songs can get. Just imagine Billy Joel, far less mawkish, Tasered into the new millennium."
