Biography
Michael Jay Purser, born in 1989, grew up in a home full of music. His father, a former professional musician himself, nurtured Michael’s natural musical talent by encouraging his love for the violin as a young child, providing the instrument and the lessons. Later, Michael became interested in the guitar and piano, which he learned to play well prior to beginning high school. Other instruments that Michael has picked up during his short career are the didgeridoo, bass, and harmonica.
Michael was the fiddler for a popular north Texan Celtic Rock band, Needfire, until they disbanded in November of 2010. Michael’s current Needfire fans were eagerly awaiting the release of his first recently-completed album, which was released October 2010. The album promises to showcase Michael’s talent for songwriting and melodic violin driven by rhythm guitar, as well as give his devoted fans a taste of his harmonica and bass skills, while featuring his reflective and at times cryptic vocals throughout.
