Biography

Music Instructor was a German electro-dance music project. The producers and songwriters behind Music Instructor were Mike Michaels, Mark "MM" Dollar, and Mark Tabak, collectively known as Triple-M Crew. Triple-M also produced other artists and bands, including Brainbug, Flying Steps, Mystica, Highland, The Boyz, Overground, Before Four, US5 and Ayman. Music Instructor frequently collaborated with other artists, particularly the group Lunatics and the breakdance crew Flying Steps. The project was most active in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Music Instructor initially produced dance music influenced by happy hardcore, featuring vocalist Holly Trance. The project's first single was a cover of "Hymn", originally performed by Ultravox, released in 1995. It was followed by the album "The World of Music Instructor" in 1996, which produced the singles "Hands in the Air", "Dream a Little Dream" and "Dance". Music Instructor also released "Friends Will Be Friends", a cover of Queen's song of the same name, which was included on the compilation album "Queen Dance Traxx".

In 1998, during a renewed interest in electro music, Music Instructor shifted towards an electro-oriented sound. The project released the album "Electric City of Music Instructor", which included the singles "Super Sonic", "Rock Your Body", "Get Freaky" and "Electric City". The first three singles featured the German breakdance collective Flying Steps, while "Get Freaky" featured the German hip-hop group Lunatics. A separate single edit was created for "Get Freaky", differing from the album version, and the character Abe from the Oddworld video game series appeared in the music videos for both versions. The single version of "Super Sonic" also differed slightly from the album version. The first edition of the album was released under the title "Electro City" and contained the original album versions rather than the later single edits. The album also featured the "Music Instructor Megamix" and cover versions of Newcleus' "Jam on It", Freestyle's "Don't Stop the Rock", Jonzun Crew's "Pack Jam (Look Out for the OVC)" and Shannon's "Let the Music Play".

Following the release of the second album, Music Instructor remixed DJ Session One's "Dreams In My Fantasy" and released the singles "DJ's Rock Da House" (1999), "Super Fly (Upper MC)" featuring Lunatics rapper Dean Burke, "Highland" (2000), and "Play My Music" featuring Veronique (2001).
