Biography
Nightmarer is an international avant-garde/technical death metal band with roots in the United States and Germany, formed in 2013. They are known for a crushing, dissonant, and atmospheric take on extreme metal that blends technical precision with oppressive, nightmarish soundscapes.
Clandestinely conceived by members and ex-members of acts like Gigan, War from a Harlots Mouth, and The Ocean, Nightmarer focuses on extreme dissonance, low-end heaviness, complex structures, and a suffocating atmosphere. Their sound often incorporates elements of doom, industrial, and post-metal, creating a “total dissonance worship” approach that feels both cerebral and viscerally punishing. Themes tend to evoke terror, corrosion, extinction, and existential dread.
