Biography

Omer Adam (Hebrew: עומר אדם; born October 22, 1993) is one of Israel’s most commercially successful and culturally dominant singers, whose music blends Mizrahi (Middle Eastern/Oriental Jewish) melodies and modes with Western pop, electronic dance, hip-hop, and Mediterranean elements to create a mainstream “Mizrahi pop” sound that has become a defining soundtrack of contemporary Israeli popular culture.

Born in North Carolina, USA, to Israeli parents while his father Yaniv Adam (a special-forces officer who served as deputy commander of the elite Shaldag Unit and Paratroopers Battalion 202) was posted there, Adam has Mountain Jewish (Kavkazi) roots on his paternal side and Ashkenazi heritage on his maternal side; the family returned to Israel when he was three and settled in the moshav of Mishmar HaShiv’a near Tel Aviv. He is observant—keeping Shabbat, wearing tzitzit, and studying Torah—and has publicly prioritized these values, notably declining an invitation to appear in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv because it would have required performing on Shabbat.

Adam first gained national attention in 2009 on season 7 of the reality show Kokhav Nolad (Israel’s Idol), where he became a fan favorite before being disqualified after it emerged he was under the minimum age of 16 (about 15 years and 7 months at the time of application); the controversy only accelerated his rise.

He immediately launched a heavy touring schedule of more than 150 shows in his first year and released his debut album Namess Mimekh (Melting Because of You) in 2010. Early milestones included becoming the youngest artist to headline the prestigious Caesarea Amphitheater in 2011 at age 17, followed by a string of hit singles and albums through the 2010s, with Good Boy Bad Boy (2012) marking a major breakthrough. His 2017–2018 collaboration “Shnei Meshuga’im” (“Two Crazy People,” with Static & Ben El Tavori) became Israel’s biggest-selling song of the period, outperforming even Netta’s Eurovision winner “Toy” in the local market.

He has released at least ten studio albums by early 2026, most certified gold or platinum in Israel, including standouts such as Modeh Ani, Ashbahot, Mizrahi Pop, the self-titled OMER (2020), The 8 (2021—which set a national record when all eight tracks simultaneously topped Israeli Spotify and Apple Music charts), Symptoms of a Breakup (2025), and Chelek Min HaNetzach (Part of Eternity, February 2026). Adam has repeatedly sold out major Israeli venues, becoming the first artist to perform at Haifa’s Sami Ofer Stadium, selling out Yarkon Park/Ramat Gan Stadium shows (including multi-night runs drawing tens of thousands per night), headlining Menora Mivtachim Arena multiple times, and in 2019 becoming the first Israeli artist to sell out the large Yarkon Stadium previously reserved mainly for international acts; he also performed at the 2017 Maccabiah Games opening ceremony and has collaborated widely with artists such as Static & Ben El and Noa Kirel. In 2023, Ynetnews named him “Israel’s most famous singer,” and he has consistently ranked among the most-streamed artists in the country. Beyond music, he has built a significant business empire through the family-linked P.A.I. Production/Adam Investment company involving artist management, real estate, and technology (including a data-center venture valued around 1 billion shekels following a partial 2025 exit).

Personally, he has been linked to high-profile relationships (including a period living in Dubai with model Yael Shelbia before returning to Israel), with reports in 2026 referencing a glamorous wedding in Italy, and he has a younger brother who is also a singer, Gal Adam. In 2026 he released his tenth studio album Chelek Min HaNetzach, continued massive Israeli stadium and arena runs (including multi-night shows at Ramat Gan Stadium as part of the large-scale NEXT concert productions featuring collaborations with artists like Idan Amedi, Rita, and Osher Cohen, plus Pais Arena Jerusalem dates), and announced a high-profile U.S. arena return promoted by Live Nation following his sold-out Madison Square Garden show in October 2025: October 29 at Intuit Dome in Inglewood/Los Angeles and November 1 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, with additional Canadian dates mentioned in some announcements and a production featuring a live band, dancers, and video elements.

He remains one of the highest-grossing live acts in Israel, with ongoing private events, weddings, and commercial activity. Overall, Omer Adam has transformed from a teenage reality-TV underage controversy into a generational Israeli superstar who mainstreamed Mizrahi-influenced pop while building parallel business success and maintaining a strong connection to Jewish observance and national identity.
