Biography
Painted Wives is a progressive doom/sludge metal band from Southern California (Midway City / Huntington Beach / Costa Mesa area), formed in the early 2010s from the ashes of the Orange County band Railroad to Alaska.
They blend heavy, technical, and melodic elements, drawing comparisons to acts like Alice in Chains, Mastodon, High on Fire, Gojira, Queens of the Stone Age, and Black Sabbath. The band is known for raw, serious songwriting with a mix of brute force and atmosphere, often described as a “doom diamond in the southern California rough.”
